Clear Mind Utah is a family-owned IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback center in American Fork, Utah — founded by a husband and wife who know firsthand what it feels like to carry more than you can hold.
We didn't open this clinic because it seemed like a good business. We opened it because we'd lived through enough accumulated stress and trauma to understand why people need a gentle, drug-free path to feeling like themselves again — and we found one that works.

Our story
How We Got Here
In 2017, Valerie's brother — Dr. Jon Harmon DC, BCN → — first approached Troy and Valerie about becoming neurofeedback providers in Utah. The timing wasn't right. Their son had been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and every ounce of their energy was focused there.
A few years later, Dr. Harmon came back. He had converted his practice from operant conditioning neurofeedback to IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback — and he was seeing people improve faster and for greater duration. By then, their son's tumor had been successfully addressed and removed. The door was open.
After thorough due diligence, Troy and Valerie opened Clear Mind Utah in 2021. Not because it seemed like a good business opportunity — but because they had personally tasted the weight of accumulated stress and trauma. They wanted to provide something that most people quietly suffer through without ever asking for help: relief from the everyday stress that builds up over time and quietly takes over your life.
"We opened Clear Mind Utah because we understood — from the inside — what it means to carry more than you should have to. And we found something that actually helps."
— Troy & Valerie Gundersen, Founders
A personal note: In early 2024, Valerie was diagnosed with endometrial cancer — a journey that has tested our family's resilience in new ways. We're grateful to share that as of summer 2026, she is out of pain, her tumor has shrunk significantly, and she is preparing to return to Clear Mind Utah soon. Her strength through this season has only deepened our commitment to the work we do here.
The people behind the practice
Meet the Team

Valerie Gundersen
Co-Founder · IASIS Certified Practitioner
Valerie is the heart of Clear Mind Utah. A certified IASIS practitioner, nutritionist, and personal trainer, she brings warmth, intuition, and deep personal experience to every client she works with.
Having navigated significant personal health challenges of her own, Valerie understands what it means to need support — and to find something that actually works. She is currently on leave and preparing to return to the clinic soon.

Troy Gundersen
Co-Founder · IASIS Certified Practitioner
Troy brings a calm, grounded presence to every session and every client interaction. A certified IASIS practitioner, nutritionist, and personal trainer, he is committed to helping people understand that the stress they carry doesn't have to be permanent.
Having walked through seasons of real personal challenge alongside Valerie, Troy brings both professional expertise and genuine empathy to the work he does every day at Clear Mind Utah.

Sydni Gundersen
IASIS Practitioner
Sydni joined Clear Mind Utah in January 2025 — not just as a team member, but as someone with a personal testimony of what neurofeedback can do. Living with dyslexia and auditory processing disorder, she experienced firsthand how neurofeedback helped her manage her nervous system and anxiety more effectively.
Sydni learned quickly and has developed a natural intuition for placement and protocols that clients respond to. When Valerie stepped back to focus on her health, Sydni stepped forward — and she hasn't looked back.
In association with Dr. Jon Harmon DC, BCN
Dr. Harmon is Valerie's brother and the person who first introduced the Gundersen family to IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. Board Certified in Neurofeedback by the BCIA — the international certifying body in this field — Dr. Harmon operates Clear Mind Idaho → and continues to be a trusted resource and collaborator for our team.
What we believe
Our Mission and Values
Our mission is simple: to help people find relief from the stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation that quietly takes over their lives — using a gentle, drug-free, and non-invasive approach that actually works.
We believe most people carry far more than they let on. The everyday stress. The accumulated trauma. The sense that your nervous system is stuck and you don't know how to get it unstuck. We've lived that. And we built Clear Mind Utah because we found a way through it.

We believe in a whole-person approach to wellbeing — one that considers brain health, nervous system regulation, nutrition, rest, and movement together. IASIS MCN is at the center of what we do, but it's part of a larger philosophy: that when the nervous system finds its balance, everything else becomes easier.
